Technical Sales
Selling a product comes naturally to many individuals. They are the talented
people who can probably sell a comb or a brush to a bald man. One needs
to have certain skills and master the art of selling to accomplish his or her
sales on a daily basis. In fact, selling is the base of any business to flourish.
Without selling a certain product or an idea, no business can survive.
Similarly, when dealing with technical products, you need to have the
skill and the art of selling it to someone who requires it and also to
someone who is not very sure if s/he requires it. If you are in to technical
sales, your main aim would be convincing customers that products
like
internet security, keyboards, printers, or a monitor are something that they require
and they
probably can't do without. If you are successful in convincing the
end user,
then you can pat yourself on the back and say, "A job well done!"
Customer Service in the Technical Field...
If you are in the technical field, then you must definitely be well versed with all the technical aspects. You must also be aware of the fact that getting software installed, designing an entire system, repairing or upgrading requires you to be patient and deal carefully with an individual who has less or absolutely no knowledge of it. Selling the product is just the beginning. The after sales service and the customer service is the main thing if you want customers coming back to you for all their technical needs. Many of the customers are not even sure of the working and how to go about, let's say, a printer for instance. They need to be given full explanation about their features, benefits and of how much of use it's going to be to them.
Some Tips for a Good Salesperson...
To be a good salesperson besides having the art of selling, there are other aspects of selling that you will need to keep in mind. Below is a list of those things.
- The main characteristics of being a good salesperson are humbleness, outgoing, honesty, sincerity, and stubbornness to sell the product or an idea.
- You should be humble, honest, and stubborn to the effect that if a customer has a query and you are not sure of the solution, be humble and honest enough to say so and stubborn enough to find the answer and clear the doubt.
- Listening to the customer is also very important as you will be in a position to judge what the requirements of the customer and are how you can fulfil their needs.
- Controlling the conversation and not going off the topic is also important as while talking there are possibilities that you and the prospective customer may completely steer off the topic or product that you were actually discussing.
