Selling is a part of everyone's life. You may not realize it but you are doing
it practically every other day. For instance you and your friends are out chilling
and planning a trip for the next weekend. Lots of ideas and places will
definitely come up in the discussion. The idea that is agreed upon at the
end of all the discussion is someone's idea and s/he succeeded in talking all
of you in to it. In a way s/he sold and convinced everyone to agree. The
only difference here would be that your friend is not being paid for what
s/he sold. Let's take another example, when you go for a job interview,
you are asked lots of questions about yourself, your work experience,
and the like. You obviously will bring out all your stronger points and in
a way you are selling yourself to the prospective employer. If you happen to
get the job, then you will be paid for the services rendered to the organization in the form of salary. So you see how a simple thing like discussing with your friends or getting a job also seems like a sale. Well, this is a different type of sale. But the fact remains that somewhere all of us have the art of selling. It's just how we hone our skills and apply them in a professional and productive way.
